Job Description
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is seeking a dynamic and collaborative academic professional to serve as the Assistant Director of Faculty Initiatives in the Walker Center for Teaching and Learning. This leadership role focuses on the development and administration of evidence-based, innovative faculty support initiatives. The successful candidate will lead efforts to enhance teaching excellence, faculty engagement, and instructional innovation across campus.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership
Develop, implement, and manage faculty development initiatives, including workshops, book clubs, faculty fellows programs, the Instructional Excellence Conference, and the Teaching and Learning Institute, among others.
- Faculty Mentorship & Consultation
Provide mentoring and instructional consultations to faculty aligned with the university's strategic teaching and learning goals.
- Grant Administration
Oversee WCTL Innovation Grants process and chair the WCTL Grants Committee.
- Pedagogy and Learning Technologies
Assist the media and instructional design teams with major projects. Develop and maintain understanding of the learning management system and other learning technologies managed by the Walker Center.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of instructional design, faculty mentoring models, and learning technologies.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an academic environment.
- Knowledge of current, evidence-based pedagogical practices and trends in higher education.

Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in higher education combining teaching and administrative responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating workshops or conversations on teaching practices.
- Strong background in mentoring faculty and supporting pedagogical improvement.
Preferred:
- Doctoral degree.
- 5+ years of teaching experience in higher education.
- Experience with faculty development program design and implementation.
- Experience administering grant or funding programs.
