BRCC is seeking a Registered Nurse-Healthcare Trainer/Instructor to provide instruction for a combination of day, evening and weekend classes for courses included, but not limited to, Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, CPR/First Aid and Patient Care Technician.
Duties include:
Instruct a mandatory number of healthcare courses per year
Schedule and supervise clinical experiences for students, to include off-site locations
Curriculum development and maintenance for these courses
Lead and mentor instructors
Maintain healthcare lab
Assist in administrative tasks related to these courses
Ensure program quality across healthcare programs by providing instructional support to other healthcare instructors and assisting with student completion efforts. This includes helping students to successfully move through coursework, obtain industry credentials and licensures, and progress to the training level required to meet their professional goals.
Support adjunct instructors with lab set up and instruction on lab equipment
Inventory supplies for consumables to meet the needs of all healthcare classes.
Review strengths and weaknesses of healthcare program effectiveness and provide suggestions and feedback to program manager
Assist with recruiting and training new and existing instructors
Participate in outreach efforts for healthcare classes which includes healthcare information sessions
Provide feedback for future program development
May occasionally work with employers to identify skill gaps in the workforce and make curriculum and instructional suggestions for the program
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Current unrestricted Virginia or Multistate Registered Nurse license
Two years' experience as a Registered Nurse within the previous 5 years and at least one-year direct client care or supervisory experience in the provision of geriatric long-term care services. (Other experience may include employment in a nurse aide education program or employment in or supervision of nursing students in a nursing facility or unit geriatrics department, chronic care hospital, home care, or other long-term care setting)
Hold or obtain a certification to teach Nurse Aide and Medication Aide in Virginia AND complete required coursework for teaching Medication Aides. Must maintain certification
Hold or obtain certification to teach AHA Basic Life Support and First Aid
Have at least 3 years of medication administration experience as required by the Virginia Board of Nursing to teach Medication Aide instruction courses
Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds
Ability to teach in classroom, hybrid, and online formats
Ability to use various forms of technology, such as Microsoft office and lab equipment and the ability to learn new ones
Availability to teach day, evening, and weekend classes
Ability to travel to off-site locations to provide clinical instruction as needed
Additional Considerations:
Work experience in a clinical setting
Prior experience in teaching/training related coursework
Experience teaching students from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency
