Job Description
This position is full-time, 40 hours per week Tennessee Licensed Registered Nurse in an ambulatory clinic setting. The position is scheduled to work Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day. Typical hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position reports to the Nursing Supervisor and works one-on-one with an assigned licensed medical provider (MD or FNP) who provides clinical directions.
The Staff Nurse, R.N. position is expected to provide nursing skills to the ability of their licensure and at the direction of an advanced medical licensed professional. The practice setting is in an ambulatory clinic whose mission is to provide personal health care services, health promotion, education, and consultation to all eligible students attending the University of Tennessee.
Responsibilities
- Provision of Customer Service.
- Performing nursing skills to the ability of their licensure and at the direction of an advanced licensed medical professional.
- Maintaining confidentiality of medical information.
- Ensuring accurate documentation of services provided in the form of an electronic medical records system.
- Willingness to work with a diverse patient population and provide services for all eligible students seeking treatment.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Education: Must have an associate's degree from an accredited School of Nursing Program as a Registered Nurse.
- Licensure: Must have a State of Tennessee medical license as a Registered Nurse.
- Experience: Must have 3 years of experience in a hospital or physician's office as a R.N.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Must have the knowledge of basic human anatomy; Must have the knowledge of nursing license limitations; Must have the skills and ability to practice infection control methods in a health care facility. Ability to type and utilize a Windows based computer system. Ability to administer injections. Must have basic knowledge, skill, and ability to maintain all medical records information with strict confidentiality. Must have basic knowledge of medical coding including CPT and ICD-10 diagnosis codes. Must have ability and willingness to be CPR certified.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing program with a bachelor's degree.
- Experience: 3 years' experience working in a college or university student health facility, hospital, or physician's office.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Preference given to those who have worked within the electronic health record system known as Medicat. The ability to speak a foreign language is preferred. Previous experience with dealing with allergic reactions and emergency medical situations will be strongly considered.
Work Location: University of Tennessee, Student Health Center, Knoxville, TN. The work location is the actual clinic setting at 1800 Volunteer Blvd.
Compensation and Benefits UT market range: 10
