Department Statement:
The Colgate Student Health Services provides convenient, high quality and cost effective care to a diverse group of students. Functioning as the primary care provider, Student Health Services offers routine medical care, womens and mens health, and mental health services, while also promoting wellness through health education. Student Health Services frequently partners with the University Counseling and Psychological Services and Shaw Wellness Institute to provide a holistic approach to health and wellness.
Accountabilities:
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant is a member of the Student Health Services staff, working in collaboration with Counseling and Psychological Services, and reporting to the Medical Director of Student Health Services. This position works collaboratively with other members of the Student Health Services Team, Counseling and Psychological Services Staff and a consulting Psychiatrist in order to provide high quality mental health and psychiatric services to Colgate students. Practice is guided by protocols and standards set forth by the NYS Department of Education/Office of Professions and best evidence-based practices.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Professional Experience/Qualifications
Current NYS licensure, DEA prescriptive privileges;
A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in the field of Mental Health;
Previous experience working with a diverse patient population, and with young adults/college-aged students;
Strong organizational skills, including effective time management and prioritization capabilities;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills; and
Must be committed to working collegially and networking with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff on a daily basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Education
Mental Health (Psychiatric) Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Masters degree from an accredited college or university
