Job Summary

The Utah Pectus Program (UPP) is a comprehensive initiative dedicated to the care of children, adolescents, and young adults with pectus and other chest wall deformities. Housed at the new Primary Children's Hospital, Miller Campus in Lehi, UT, the program is focused on providing state-of-the-art care through a combination of surgical and nonoperative treatments. The UPP is committed to patient-centered care, innovation, and program growth, and we are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to serve as the Program Manager and take ownership of this initiative. The APP Program Manager will work collaboratively with 4-6 surgeons and play a pivotal role in the development, and management of the program. This role includes both clinical responsibilities and program development, ensuring high-quality, coordinated care for patients while driving the program's growth and outreach efforts.

Responsibilities

Takes complex medical histories on patients referred for consultation by academic and community physicians.
Performs physical examinations.
Orders laboratory tests, x-rays, special imaging studies and other diagnostic procedures.
Orders and supervises the administration of blood products.
Reaches tentative diagnosis of medical, surgical and other conditions.
Develops treatment plans in conjunction with attending physician to provide optimal patient medical management.
Participates in continuing medical education to include specialty and sub-specialty meetings, clubs, boards and conferences.
Assists in the collection of data for research projects.
Orders consultations and interacts with members of other specialty medical teams.
Participates in special projects and committee functions.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

Participate in a combined clinic with surgeons, evaluating and managing patients with chest wall deformities.
Assist in the operating room for all Nuss procedures, bar removals, and other chest wall surgeries.
Lead an independent APP clinic for postoperative care and nonoperative conditions (e.g., bracing and vacuum bell therapy).

Program Development and Leadership

Take ownership of the UPP, serving as the primary point of contact for the program.
Collaborate with the Program Director to develop and implement initiatives aimed at improving patient care and expanding
program reach.
Coordinate outreach efforts to regional and local providers, enhancing referrals and patient access.
Create and maintain educational materials for patients and providers.

Administrative Duties and Quality Improvement

Manage program-related data and outcomes using platforms such as REDCap.
Work with the surgical team to optimize clinic workflows and patient experience.

Problem Solving

Ability to perform the key responsibilities of the job as outlined above.
Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.

Minimum Qualifications
Required
Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
Preferred
Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
Utah State prescriptive privileges.
Licensure is obtained by completing a Master's degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master's degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
